Copy EXIF data from one photo to another

Exported an edit and lost the camera info? Add the original, add the edit, and put the metadata back. Choose whether to bring along the location and owner details.

1 Source: has the metadata
2 Target: receives it

When copying EXIF is useful

Editing apps and export dialogs often drop camera details. Copying the metadata from your original restores the camera, lens, exposure settings and date so catalogue software sorts the photo correctly again. It also helps when you re-save a scan or a converted file and want the info to follow it.

Works between JPEG, PNG and WebP. The source can also be TIFF, HEIC or AVIF. With every option on, the metadata block is copied untouched, including the maker note. If you switch off location or owner details, a clean block is rebuilt without them, and the maker note is left out.

Questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Both photos stay in this browser tab.

Will the target photo change?

Only its metadata. The pixels are not re-encoded, so quality stays identical.

What if the source has no EXIF?

Then there is nothing to copy and the tool tells you so. Use the editor to type the details in by hand.
